As for 10/11/83, though the experience of it is something that I'll never forget, upon listening to the recordings it really was a rather sloppy affair with the whole jam almost falling apart.

I think I read that they really didn't want to play it on 10/31 but felt obligated to provide a west coast appearance.Maybe thats why they never played it again.

i had recently given the 10-31-1983 version a listen and they do go through the motions on it...10-11-1983 is rough (rest of the show is great, you did get to see a fantastic Bird Song and China>Rider)...10-15-1983 is probably the best 83 show in general, the St. Stephen is the best one of the 83s, still could have used some more "rehearsal", but overall, not bad, at least there's energy and enthusiam...if they were reluctant to then they should have not done it on 10-31-1983 and saved it for the New Year's run in Oakland...
